Every format you'll meet
ZIP and 7Z with AES-256 passwords, every TAR variant, RAR (read), single compressed files, AR, CPIO, even JAR and APK. Mislabeled files are detected by content.
Look before you extract
Browse the folder tree and preview text and images right inside the archive. Nothing is written to disk until you say so.

Right-click any file for Compress with Densatum or Extract Here. Drop archives on the Dock icon. Set it as your default for any format.
Extraction that can't hurt you
Never overwrites a file without asking — keep both, skip or replace, once for the whole job. Multi-file archives get their own folder. Path tricks are blocked.

Huge entries preview without loading them whole, free space is checked before extraction, and decompression-bomb images can't blow up memory.

No account, no telemetry. Licenses are verified on your Mac. The only network call is a once-a-day version check you can switch off.

Open the disk image, drag Densatum to Applications, launch it once so the Finder actions install. To verify the download, run shasum -a 256 Densatum-*.dmg and compare:
Checksum is published with each release next to the download.
Intel Macs aren't supported yet. Densatum runs on any Mac with Apple Silicon.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes, for personal use: the full app with every feature and no time limit. After 30 days an unlicensed copy shows a short reminder at launch — like WinRAR — that personal users simply dismiss; the window title also reads “unlicensed” until a key is entered.
Who needs a license?
Anyone using Densatum for work: companies, freelancers and sole traders, non-profits, schools and public administrations. It's €5 per person, once. The app never locks itself — it reminds you at launch and marks the window as unlicensed, and relies on you to be fair.
Does it send anything anywhere?
No accounts, no telemetry, no crash reports. License keys are verified on your Mac against a public key. The only network call is a once-a-day check of this site for a newer version and for revoked license keys, and you can switch it off in Settings.
How does the license key work offline?
Your key is a small signed record. The app checks the signature locally and never contacts a server. Keep the key from your purchase email; it works on every Mac you use.
What does a password protect?
The file contents, with AES-256. File names, sizes and folder structure stay visible in ZIP and 7Z alike — Densatum tells you this right next to the password field. 7Z resists password guessing much better than ZIP.
Can it create RAR files? Open RAR5?
No, and not yet. RAR creation is proprietary and can't be licensed freely. Densatum reads RAR versions 2–4; RAR5 support depends on an open library appearing.
Refunds and invoices?
Purchases are handled by Stripe (Managed Payments), our reseller of record: they issue the invoice with VAT for your country and handle refunds under their terms.
